Comfort

George Valiapadath Capuchin
Two people embracing closely in an outdoor setting, creating an emotional and comforting mood, with blurred greenery in the background.

“Comfort, says God. Comfort my people. Speak to them gently and proclaim to them” – it is with this commission a prophet enters the scene (Is. 40:1-2).

What kindness, what compassion, is seen in God! They have been through many tears and have gone through many sufferings. They can't take the pain any more.

They need ointment for their wounds. They need the caress of compassion for their scars. Tears of compassion and atonement should fall on their weary hearts.

Don’t you see them?

The broken children of the broken!

The aching hearts in the families torn asunder!

The disoriented burning of the confused minds!

The herd of despair of those who have been turned away alone!

The helplessness of those that are constricted by death!

The deep dark of those whose only light was taken away so as to end their selves!

The pain of those who share their prison-food with veiled-lives!

Even while living those turned into clay dolls!?
