Abraham begat Isaac; Isaac begat Jacob... Thus goes the genealogy of Abraham at the beginning of Matthew's Gospel. It was men who begat. But when we reach verse 16, the narrative changes. "Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ."

It was in the same way also in the beginning. According to the creation account, God first created Adam. After Adam was put into a deep sleep, from him He created Eve. Women also were born of men in the Old Testament.

On the other hand, in the New Testament, God first creates Mary, the new Eve. From her, the new Adam, Jesus, is broughtforth. Paul also puts it in similar words: "God sent His Son, born of a woman" (Gal. 4:4). Jesus also says in reference to the Baptist: โ€œAmong those born of women there has not been anyone greater than John the Baptistโ€ (Matt. 11:11).

Men also are born of women in the New Testament.

She is the beginning of the New Testament.

โ€œThe earth was (tohu-va-bohu) formless and empty, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God hovered over the face of the watersโ€ is the first indication given in the Book of Genesis about the beginning of creation (1:2).

When the angel tells Mary, โ€œYou will bear a son,โ€ she asks: โ€œHow will this be?โ€ The angelโ€™s answer is: โ€œThe Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.โ€

Look, creation is taking place again. She is the new fine earth.

Bypassing God Eve tried to know good and evil, ended up abusing the freedom that was available to her. Mary, on the other hand, used her freedom properly by knowing the good with God, by saying, "Let it be" according to God's will!

Thus, she becomes the mother of new humanity!

God formed the new human - the Christ- out of the dust that was her. Therefore, to those who have Christness in them it would be right to say, "You are Mary; into Mary you will return"!
