A few years ago, a team of men and women Religious used to go to schools to conduct free classes and counseling for a whole day, covering topics such as values, sex education, and philosophy for life. Motivational speeches were not yet in vogue in those days. The nuances of democracy was one of the topics. The team tried to tell the audience that as democracy grows, the use of physical force and authority should be decreasing, and that democracy is only possible when more rights are not given to some and equality is more and more developed.

Around the same time, the Forum of Religious for for Justice and Peace had convened a national convention in Ernakulam on the topic of 'Human Rights in the Church'.

Justice cannot be available to a some people alone. Before we ask for justice, we must have given it to others. We need to ensure justice for all. Justicia- the goddess of justice should be blind. She is blindfolded because she shouldn't look at faces of people.

It has been almost quarter of a century, since. It seems that now is the time when someone should hold such discussions in schools and in the general society.
