There is a famous quote by the second-century theologian Irenaeus that can be translated as, “Human fully alive is the glory of God.” It has been interpreted in various ways. I understand that the following line to it is, “The glory of God is the human being bathed in truth, beauty, and goodness.” A human being who has reached his full spiritual potential. A seed that has broken through its little shell and grown into a mighty tree. A human being who has loved to the utmost of one's capability. A human being who embodied truth, goodness, and beauty to the fullest extent possible!
For embodying truth, love, and beauty, when the hour of persecution came upon him, Jesus seems to have said the same thing: "Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him."
