Cain murdered his brother Abel, an experiential reality that stares at us from the very beginning of the Bible.
How terrible it is that the gentle one was killed and the aggressive one remained! Should we be sad that the world has become a land where the Abels have been eliminated and the Cains have survived?
In each era, those who were killed or eliminated: weren't they at least a little gentler?
Weren't those who survived at least a little bit more aggressive?
Aren't we all the descendants of the 'Cain's who remained on the earth from time to time?
Hasn't survival of the fittest and natural selection been carried out in the same direction for centuries and millennia, and even aeons? Hasn't the human race, over time, deleted the genes and DNA that contained gentleness and compassion by eliminating them even before producing the prodigy?
In the past few months, two little girls took their lives at a school in the nearby little town!
The reason was bullying by their classmates. Children who did not hurt others, who were kind and gentle: even when they had burner burning inside!
Neither of them was directly or physically attacked or eliminated. Whatever be the psychological explanations, I only know that those children are no longer there on the face of the earth!
Isn't that the same old story is played out over and over again? They are hard-pressed; persecuted; struck down! The children of the new era haven't inherited enough faith to avoid being destroyed.
And yet, yes and yet how come that the gentle still get sprouted here?
How come that the human race is yet fighting aggression?
And yet, how come the Master says emphatically that "Blessed are the gentle: for they shall inherit the earth"?
