Philosophical thinkers with a Christian background often say that 'Life is a web of relationships'. And that is true. Because who can exist as a lone point without any relationships?!

However, when we give utmost importance to relationships, it might happen that we will maintain relationships by any means, and our whole attention is at keeping the relationship. People will then be willing to do any kind of maneuvering to avoid causing displeasure to their children or their siblings. According to the Christian theological thought, there is a danger in it.

At one point Jesus would declare: "One who loves one's father or mother ... son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."

What is implied here is love that lacks truth, and does not look for the good of the other person. In other words, "love" that lacks "Love" itself - in one word: selfishness.

It is shocking that even love and personal relationships won't gain entry into the realm of spirituality if they are not guided by certain divine principles.
