At what time did Christ rise? I don’t know.

The Gospels don’t say the exact time.

They don’t even say that anyone saw the resurrection.

I think it must have been early in the morning, just before the rooster crowed.

In other words, when the Lord rose, the cock crowed!

The Gospel says that an angel came from heaven and rolled away the stone that covered the entrance to the tomb. According to Matthew, there were members of the temple guard assigned to guard the tomb. Psychology says that people react to fear in three ways. They either fight, flee, or freeze. When they saw the stone roll away by itself, according to Matthew, “they became like dead men”, which means they froze. The Gospel does not say that they saw the risen Lord.

Was the stone rolled away and the tomb was opened so that the risen One could come out?

It doesn't make any difference to the resurrected One whether the tomb is closed or open.

So, the tomb was opened not for the resurrected One for him to come out, then it was for us, those who have material bodies, to enter that the stone was rolled away!

Is the empty tomb a proof for resurrection?

There may be people who consider it that way.

But, the empty tomb is not a proof for resurrection.

It is only a sign.

At the word of Mary Magdalene, Peter and John ran to the tomb.

John explains that he “saw the linen cloth lying there, and the cloth that was used to cover his head, rolled up as though by itself, and remaining separately.” He saw and “believed.”

The indications that John gives are these: the body of Jesus was not there;

the linen cloths that had been around his body were lying there;

the cloth that had been around his head was rolled up by itself.

From these we can deduce:

Because Peter and John came running, they were not seeing a vision.

Because the burial clothes were there, the body of Jesus was actually buried.

In the usual manner the dead body was wrapped in linen cloths, and the head and face were covered with a towel.

If the body had been stolen, the linen cloths would have been also gone with it.

Even otherwise, it would not have been where it was buried.

The cloth that had covered the head and face had been rolled up by itself.

Which means it had not been done by anyone.

That is, it had not been done by an external force, but by an internal action.

And these are not proofs.

They are signs!
