'Gird your loins and light your lamps and remain watchful and waiting" (Luke 12:35,36) are four indicators given by the Gospel about life.

Awakenness - is something that Jesus repeatedly requires us of. Without it you don't perceive, you don't see, you don't recognize.

Life is actually a waiting - awaiting the Lord.

All the three elements here are important. Yes, vigilance is very important.

Awaiting is important as well.

But are the other two unimportant?

No, not at all.

'Girding up' comes first. Gird your loins - means servant-like service - it's ministry.

Service or ministry are expressions of love.

'Light your lampd' means having a lively faith.

Waiting is expectation - is hope.

So, that's it. Later on what Paul said. Faith, hope, love - these three endure. The three foundations of eternity.

But the most universal of these is the greatest of all.

Yes, Love!
