January 1 is celebrated as World day of Peace, by the Church. The year 2025 is going to be a Jubilee Year too. Therefore, this celebration has much significance. Pope Francis has revealed the theme for the world day of peace as- "Forgive us our debts & Grant us Your Peace".

Pope Francis says that 'We are all in debt to God. God in His infinite Mercy forgives us our sins and calls us to forgive others. That is a call to the liberating justice of God in our world. Forgiveness, Justice, and solidarity are the pathways to Hope and Peace in a troubled world. What is needed is not sporadic acts of philanthropy, but cultural and structural changes. Resources of the Earth are God's gift to humanity. The cultural and structural change needed will come about, when we finally recognize that we are all in His debt, but also that we need one another in a spirit of shared and diversified responsibility.

The Church's call is to be like the Baptizer- the one who calls out in the desert. Many a times, the call may go unheeded. But, as time goes by, slowly change will come about. That's what I think.
