Seminary training has never been perfect. There is not much of a difference between me and those who came out before me and those who came out after me. All those who give a serious thought about the renewal of the Church arrive at the seminary.
It has been six months since Pope Leo XIV took office. He has already commented about it several times. He has put forward similar interests to that of his predecessor, Pope Francis. Priestly training should be aimed at forming prophetic and compassionate priests. It should be based on deep interior prayer life and a passionate love for Jesus. The imparted formation should ensure developing human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral skills in the individual: these are the expectations of the Church, according to the Pope.
Expectations have always been good. However, the Church does not seem to have given much thought about how to make this a reality. The Church has prescribed a year of preparation before entering the Philosophical the Theological studies. However, there have been no instructions on how to implement it.
Don't jump into making judgements. There is more goodness, direction, and zeal in the young people who are currently receiving seminary training than in my generation, including me. That is the reason why I dream of a brighter morrow. It is certain that they will go much further than us. But it will take time. Because we have only imparted information to them. They have to work it out and create everything anew by themselves. Let's wait patiently!
