The most fundamental position of spirituality is the sacredness that one sees in oneself, in others, and in everything around. If there is no sense and awareness of sacredness, then spirituality is completely void.

Look at Brother Francis of Assisi. He sees sacredness everywhere. If it is lacking at least to a certain degree, he realizes that it is in himself. He sees sacredness in rocks, dirt, grass, worms, water, air, Sun, moon, and even in a small letter written on a piece of paper.

This vision of divinity or sacredness is something that is often missing in most brands of spirituality of our time.

How many are the Religious communities present in the Church! If we don't regain the awareness and vision of the sacred, it seems that no matter what all else we do, it will all end as mere spiritual torments.
