Is there power in prayer? Of course there is power in prayer. Every person who prays becomes stronger: in mind, will, and body.
Is prayer powerful? Of course prayer is powerful. People who pray transform the world they love.
Are there limits to prayer? Why doubt? Prayer has limits too.
First of all, is prayer about making things according to our own will? Not at all. The fulfillment of God’s will is the paramount. However, we can pray for the well-being of our loved ones and ourselves. We can pray for removing the troubles, sufferings and illness of our loved ones and that of ourselves. However, as the Son of God himself prayed in Gethsemane, things do not always happen the way we want them to. What Jesus showed us by praying in Gethsemane, and what he taught us in the Lord’s Prayer is to pray, “Not my will, but Thy will be done.”
It seems that many devout people these days believe that the world is so faithless and filled with evil because of a lack of prayer. To that end, they spend hours in prayer or in Eucharistic adoration and recite hundreds of rosaries. Of course, it must be admitted that what motivates them at least to a certain extent is love for God and for others. Therefore, their efforts and prayers must be bearing fruit. However, the fact that the world is becoming more and more evil is only a matter of perspective. There has always been evil in the world. However, the world is gradually being sanctified. The 'Kingdom of God' is a long-term project of God.
To think and pray that the world should be holy and all evil should disappear right now is to disown God's plan.
Prayer should be connecting our hearts to the heart of God. Just as it is said that faith without work is futile, prayer without works (both inside-work and outside-work) is simply an oral exercise and therefore must be futile.
